Welcome. This site is provided as a service to the airport lighting industry by Visual Aids Services Incorporated (VASI). The site aims to help raise the level of competence in the design of airport lighting systems by providing an industry-wide forum for the exchange of ideas, information and experiences. We hope this will benefit the industry and, in the longer term, ensure a safer environment for air travellers.

The success of the site depends on the active participation of all sections of the airport lighting industry. You can participate in several ways. The forums allow you to discuss topics of current concern or to ask questions of colleagues in the industry. You can submit articles and news items for publication on these pages and, if you have comments about our activities or the site in general, you can give us your feedback.

Optimus Corporation and Veracity Engineering, support contractors for FAA AND 520 have prepared a paper on what new power distribution system(s) should be considered for the future. This task evaluates the options available for airport lighting power distribution circuits when the circuit contains all low wattage light units such as available today with LED light sources. The potential cost savings offered by the new very efficient light source can be fully realized only when the power distribution circuit and the power supply are designed for this lower power environment. read more...
